Superstar Rajnikanth returned tonight to Chennai after over six weeks of treatment for kidney-related ailments in Singapore. Rajnikanth, 61, arrived late Wednesday evening amidst expected euphoria among his fans who have been praying for the good health of the actor. After suffering from exhaustion on April 29, the first day of the shoot of his period flick Rana, the actor was hospitalised twice. He was flown to Singapore in the last week of May for treatment of reported kidney ailment .

That is the day after tomorrow! He will be on Singapore Airlines and will reach Chennai by 10.00 pm. His family including daughter Aishwariya Dhanush will be returning with him.

The Endhiran is not tiring yet. With records being broken on a regular basis right from the date of its announcement, the latest news may not be surprise at all. Endhiran finds itself among the Best 50 feature films released in 2010 in the Internet movie database (www.imdb.com). The list is based on the number of user votes for the movie. Seven Indian films feature in the Top 50 with others follow suit.

The rating, which is lead by Hollywood blockbuster Inception, has Bollywood movies Udaan (6), Love Sex aur Dhoka (15), Peepli Live (17) and Ishqiya (22) while Endhiran occupies the 39th place. Farhan Akhtar-starrer Karthik calling Karthik and Hrithik-starrer Guzaarish are at numbers 48 and 41 respectively. Interestingly, Endhiran is the only Tamil movie in the Top 50.

Amidst the entire hullabaloo surrounding the enormous success of the sci-fi thriller Enthiran: the Robot, there are several tabloids reporting that now, after having seen the success quotient of the Tamil, Telugu and the Hindi versions, the producer of the flick, Kalanidhi Maran, is planning to get the film dubbed in English, and it will be in a 3D version!

Well, the fact is that a film of this dimension had never ever been made in the Indian sub continent and that the film has surpassed all expectations, whether in terms of its business strategy, or in terms of the acting prowess of the actors, be it in the protagonists level or the other roles, has registered with an immense stamp of glory for the entire Indian film industry.

Thus, now to the lame man, all levels of possible success have been achieved, but no! Not for the film makers of Enthiran. There are also reports about Rajinikanth having gone to the Himalayas for some meditation and peace of mind. Well, the fact is that almost all mile stones have been achieved by the block buster in terms of the commercial success, there still were some reports about it recently that it is going to made in 3D.

However, reports were also being circulated that a seven minute 3D scene is ready to be included in the Tamil and Hindi versions in order to really see the difference that is the original and the 3D version. This seven minute addition to the original film just has to be seen, at least for the die-hard Rajinikanth fan!

Well, the question still remains unanswered; will the 3D version be any different from the already innovated high technically packed drama of Enthiran? What do you think?

How much did Rajini get as salary for Enthiran?

During the audio launch function of “Enthiran” that was held in malaysia in the month of July producer Kalanithi maran made a startling revelation that superstar Rajinikanth did not get even a single rupee as salary and said he would do so after the release of the movie.

Since the production cost of the movie was very high which almost touched 160crores including the salaries of all crew who worked in the movie except Rajini.

But there was a talk in the industry that Rajini would get between 40 to 45 crores as salary and if that happened he might become the highest paid actor in asia.

Now the cat is out of the bag. According to a very reliable source, Sun pictures Managing director kalanithi maran and COO Hansraj Saxena handed over the cheque to Rajini at his residence as Enthiran Salary.

After the massive success of the movie when Sun pictures decided to pay him they seem to have called the actor and asked for an appointment to hand over the salary.

Rajini in response seem to have told them that they could come at any time that was convenient to them and asked them to pay the whole salary as cheque after TDS is deducted.

Just as a clue the source, who did not want him to be identified, gave us the TDS(Tax deducted at source) amount alone and avoided telling us the salary amount.

Want to guess? TDS amount alone was more than 10 crores of rupees and we leave the salary amount calculation to the visitors.

Now rajini is the highest paid actor in asia!!!

The below is an interesting calculation by a Canada based FM radio on Robot (Enthiran) Box office prediction. I guess, If we put realistic numbers for the Tamil & Telugu 1700 prints as the first week booking is going to be full, then calculation will be,,,, OMG,,,, it will be a never broken record….over Rs. 500 crore in a week?????

Enthiran is the costliest Indian movie ever made. Even the Hindi super stars never made a movie to this cost.

Enthiran Box Office prediction of India's Collection

It is heard that the total cost can be between Rs. 160 crore to Rs. 200 crore Indian Rupees as the promo expenses are not over yet. Rajinikanth’s salary also depends on the profit, as his final salary number is decided by the profit of the movie (His salary is expected to be around Rs. 45 crore).

The main question is “Would this be a profitable movie or going to be another flop like Baba?” All Rajini fans would see it but would that save it from flop?

Sun pictures have less worry about south, mainly Andhra and Tamilnadu. For north, Sun has ensured no big competition at Robot release time in Hindi. Ranbir’s Anjaana Anjaani will be no direct threat as released on Sept 24th (update: It is postponed to Oct 1st now due to Ayodhya verdict) and Salman’s already super hit Dabanng will be in 4th week on Oct 1. This will help to avoid audience split. Still, one more fear is there. Ayodhya Babar-Masjid verdict is given on Sept 24th. How is the verdict going to be and how people are going to take it will have some effect on cinema goers and promotions on following week?

Here is a quick interesting calculation that must have gone through Kalanithi Maran’s mind when he signs all the cheques.

2250 prints are made for theatres all over the world, according to Sun pictures. Some theatres use same print in two halls in a difference of 30 minutes.

There will be 4 shows per day for at least first 3 days (Fri, Sat, Sun). We know that many theatres in Tamilnadu will have 5 or 6 shows per day from early morning.

Average number of seats can be 500. Most of the Indian cinema halls are with over 800 seats while very few halls are with 400 seats.

Ticket price for first week in India varies from Rs. 100 to Rs. 500. Overseas ticket price are fixed but money conversion will bring it to Rs. 400 to Rs. 600.

If we pick all conservative numbers and multiply……..
2250 prints x 4 shows x 500 seats x Rs. 150 = 67,50,00,000 = Rs. 67.5 crore per day.

Rs. 67.5 crore x 3 days = Rs. 202.5 Crore.

By looking at this conservative calculation, Sun will recover the cost in just in 3 days. There is no way Sun pictures would have to worry about the money that has been invested. There can be loss and gain with distributors and Theatre owners depending on the deals. Overall, all the numbers show that Enthiran can make a record breaking collection in the history of Indian cinema. It is only less than two weeks to confirm it.

Just go with an open mind just to enjoy the combination of Shankar, Rahman, Rajnikant and aishwarya rai. Rajni defies all odds in this movie and people screaming and whistling for him from the opening song. Of course there is no bang opening like the usual rajni movies, but its rajni, rajni, rajni all the way! Watch out, I don’t want to spoil the fun!

I was amazed at the way certain pockets of the story were handled and the second half is too good. Rajni as robot has some negative shades, and it’s a cake walk for him. I could see glimpses of his characters of classics like Nettrikan, Moondru Mugam (Alex pandiyan) and Nenaithale innikum, all rolled up into one! Enthiran does steal your heart, especially in the emotional last frame!

Exclusive Enthiran Review by Rajini Fans

His makeup and hair style do make him look quite younger and Aishwarya looks stunning in her costumes of Manish Malhotra. She completely steals the frames in all the songs.. The songs are shot in some picturesque beaches and the song “Kilimanjaro” shot in Machu Pichu is amazing! Special effects, in the second half are creative and shankar’s brilliance flashes.

Some points I would like to mention about the movie are:

1. This is a complete masala movie with comedy, song, dance, romance, fight, sentiment.
2. The story’s base is Science Fiction – but it is a science fiction masala.
3. That means, do not expect a complete Sci-Fi genre movie like Terminator. But expect a movie like Avatar. (Indian version of Avatar).
4. It has all the ingredients to make it attractive to children, youngsters, family members, ladies and Rajini’s mass audience.
5. The last 45 – 50 minutes will be a celebration for Rajini fans.
6. The animations are never before seen in Indian cinema and takes Indian cinema to next level in terms of visual effects and animations – but it will not be comparable with hollywood animation flicks. So lower your expectations.
7. The stunt sequences are again, the best in Indian cinema.
8. He was sure that the movie will be liked by Hindi audience too.
9. He was absolutely sure that Rajini’s performance as the villain will win him a National Award.
10. He was also sure that A.R. Rahman will win next year’s National Award for BGM.
11. He said that the climax Symphony based BGM by Rahman is worth even Grammy awards.
12. The one point that the Hindi audience may not like is comedy that is specific to south India. He said, they may cut there scenes in Hindi.
13. The International audience who like song and dance will enjoy the movie. But, the film will not impress international audience in general as this will be a typical Indian masala movie.
14. The movie will definitely break all records for sure.

The first public show of Enthiran was held at Dubai today early in the morning. The buzz seems to be good about the film. As one of the persons who saw the film said “Enthiran Oru Manthiran.

The feedback has been positive, though people say “it is not a typical Rajinikanth film, it’s more a Shankar technical wizardry. But the last 15 minutes of the film is spellbinding and would go down as one of the best climax scenes in recent times.”

Meanwhile shows have started in other parts of the world, though the first public show in Chennai would be around 4 am now, in one of the suburban theatres. Potentially Enthiran will be a hit in tamil nadu, I heard Tata Company employees have blocked the entire first show in Kasi Theatre,Ashok Nagar chennai and watching the Special show of Enthiran now @ 05:00 AM.

The Hindi rights of the film ‘Enthiran’ was reportedly sold out for a record price of Rs.50Crores to Gemini Film Circuit. Instead of releasing the film directly, it has opted for a smarter way. According to the sources, Shringar Films have owned the rights for Bombay Territory while the most famous Mukta Arts in Delhi-UP and Eastern Punjab as well. Red Sun Enterprises, Venkatesh Films and few others have obtained rights over other regions of Hindi-territories.
